In June 2011 I was diagnosed with a local recurrence of my Breast Cancer. It was very near the site of the tumour I found in Dec 2007. This time I had to have a mastectomy, but I was able to have a reconstruction at the same time. Although there was no sign of spread my oncologist felt, on balance, that it would be wise to have a course of chemotherpy, known as CMF. Its less toxic than the one I had before, TC, so easier to deal with.
I was told that I wouldn't lose my hair, but that it would thin. By the fourth month (of six) it was so bad I had to give in and have it all cut off. The nurses think it was because I had chemo before and my root system had been weakened. I wonder if anyone else has had this experience?

6 year old donates her hair to charity.
I spotted a truly heart warming story about a 6 year old girl in the USA who had decided to cut her long blonde hair. When her mother reluctantly took her to the hairdressers, they suggested letting is get a little longer as she could then donate the hair to a company who make wigs for children. In the USA every year so many children lose their hair due to burns, chemo and alopecia. What a lovely thing to do! Follow the link a see a photo of this great little lady! http://www.calgaryherald.com/health/Calgary+year+donates+hair+cancer+victim+wigs/4117945/story.html

Brrrrr!

Well it has certainly got cold out there! I can't remember having snow so early in winter - usually it seems to come after Christmas. I'm finding that even in the house I get cold and if you are suffering from hair loss I would recommend going for one of our warmest hats - the lovely microfleece. It's light to wear but really does the trick in keeping you nice and warm.
For a dressier look, the rich velvets work really well too, with that extra bit of style!

New Turbans for hair loss

Check out our new turbans, this very popular style comes in a range of plains and patterns. In honour of the royal engagement we have included one in 'Kate Middleton Blue' !
The turban is great for covering up after chemo hair loss, by wrapping the ties around your head you gain a bit of extra coverage and shape - not to mention that you will look stylish too!
